On October 25th, a letter of intent was signed between Thracian University in Stara Zagora and the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice, marking an important step toward strengthening international academic cooperation. The agreement commits both universities to scientific collaboration, cultural exchange, and joint research activities.
The following areas were prioritized for cooperation:
- Joint research projects;
- Exchange of students and academic staff;
- Establishing a network for sustainable inter-university cooperation;
- Mutual support in organizing seminars, conferences, and working groups;
- Exchange of scientific and academic publications, documents, and other information.
Prof. Jerzy Stojko, M.D., Ph.D., Vice-Rector for Studies and Students, signed on behalf of the Medical University of Silesia, while Thracian University was represented by Prof. Ruska Paskaleva, Head of the Department of Medical Rehabilitation, Physical Medicine, and Sports, and Prof. Galina Mratskova. The signing ceremony was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences in Katowice, Prof. Anna Brzęk, M.D., and the visit’s coordinator, Dr. Grzegorz Onik, from the Department of Physical Medicine, Physiotherapy.
“We are pleased to establish this cooperation between Thracian University and the Medical University of Silesia. We look forward to implementing joint projects and advancing the primary goal of promoting international collaboration in research and education,” said Prof. Jerzy Stojko.
“During our stay, we explored the university’s educational offerings and innovative research solutions. We were impressed by the commitment of the academic staff and the collaborative infrastructure. We anticipate a partnership that will benefit students and researchers and foster new, exciting projects,” added Prof. Ruska Paskaleva.
The representatives from Thracian University in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria, have been visiting since Wednesday, October 23, coinciding with the International Congress on the Quality of Education (ICEQ), which focused this year on the internationalization of education. Prof. Galina Mratskova participated in the panel discussion, „European Values and Education in Higher Education Institutions.” The delegation also visited the Faculty of Health Sciences in Katowice and attended the ceremonial inauguration of the congress, providing an opportunity to meet with the Rector of the Medical University of Silesia, Prof. Tomasz Szczepański.
