18th International CORNEA Conference Held in Katowice

From March 5–7, 2026, Katowice hosted the 18th International CORNEA Conference, one of Europe’s leading events on corneal and ocular surface diseases. About 800 specialists from Poland and abroad participated, representing top academic and clinical centers.

Organized by the Department and Clinical Unit of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medical Sciences in Zabrze, Medical University of Silesia, the conference featured 13 scientific sessions, 9 training courses, 95 oral presentations, and 23 posters covering corneal surgery, transplantation, diagnostics, and eye tissue banking. A dedicated session for ophthalmic nurses highlighted the critical role of medical staff in patient care.

Held under the honorary patronage of the Rector of the Medical University of Silesia, the Mayor of Katowice, and the Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship, the conference provided a platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and the development of new research projects.

Thank you to all who contributed to the success of this year’s CORNEA Conference. We look forward to welcoming participants again next year.
